It’s officially October, which means it’s socially acceptable to start wearing those beloved dark colors on your nails. However, we’re noticing that our favorite polish lines are breaking away from the inevitable ‘chestnut’ look by going with colors that are arguably a little ‘untraditional’ for this time of year.
Starting with OPI’s Venice Collection, we are kind of loving ‘On My Mind’, a light blue creamy polish. It’s always hard for your #SceneGirls to break away from the pastels, but this color gave us a smooth transition into fall without having break character.
Gimme A Lido Kiss (we just love these names), brings a shimmery red into the equation. Reds & shimmer are never a #SceneGirl go to color, but if you can rock the red, go for it. Just be careful with this one, it’s been rumored to stain the nails a little bit.
White, white and more white, except this color comes out a little more grey than anything else. Don’t let the photos fool you, I Cannoli Wear OPI brings more of a creamy grey than an opaque white, but that’s okay! Grey is more of a fall/winter color anyways. Two coats will give you exactly what you’re looking for.
A Piazza Cake! This is what we’ve been waiting for. Burnt orange is a pantone color of the season, and we couldn't be more excited to spot it on our nails. However, this is going to be a shade that you either love, or hate. It just all depends on preference, and your skin tone, but it screams fall.
My Gondola Or Yours? We don’t necessarily hate this shimmery color. It goes on looking a little dull, the photos make it look MUCH more shimmery than it is.
O Suzi Mio is one of our favorites of the season. Like most of the dark OPI colors, it looks black 90% of the time, but in the right light, it provides the look of a dark eggplant creme color.
Purple Palazzo Pants is another summer transition color as it provides a light lilac purple creme. WE like it because it brings a pop of color to the fall collection. Goes on very smooth.
We’re all about the natural colors this fall. Tiramisu for Two looks different on individual skin tones. It will end up looking like a completely different nail color on you opposed to the person next to you. Flows nicely on to the nail and the opacity is great.
If you’re still trying to do that 2011 party nail, this color is for you. Worth A Pretty Penne is a coppery foil perfect for an accent nail. We’re not really sure about this one. It looks better on, than in the bottle, so it might be worth giving it a shot.
Be There In A Prosecco is a light yellow toned beige creme, which we absolutely LOVE. The color goes on smoothly and opaque with two coats, but fades a little over time. If you’re getting a manicure for a particular event, get Be There In A Prosecco a day or two before the big day.
Amore at Grand Central is a red creme. Again, we are never crazy about the reds. Been there, done that. It’s a flattering color if you have a tan, and you’ll definitely want to use two coats.
A Great Opera-tunity is a light peachy creme. Lilly is a sucker for these shades, so she was immediately drawn to this color in the collection. A great color to apply yourself as it has good consistency with no a threat of streaking.
