There’s a first time for everything, and this weekend was LLScene’s first black tie gala event as we attended the 2nd Annual Mayor’s Ball at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, benefiting the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County. Your #SceneGirls graced the red carpet, Lindsey in Badgley Mischka, and Lilly in BCBG, hair and makeup done by our new glam squad of DMDArtistry, Dominique and Daphne. Stay tuned for more details about DMD Artistry in a future blog post!
As cocktail hour began, guests sipped on drinks, mingled, and participated in the silent auction. Diamonds are a #SceneGirls best friend, so when we discovered the Razzle Dazzle table, a chance to win a 2 carat perfect round diamond worth $20,000, we wasted no time in participating.
Can you even handle this beauty?

A night immersed in black tie fashion, dinner, and dancing is all well and good, but doesn’t mean anything without a good cause to benefit. The 2nd Annual Mayor’s Ball benefitted the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County, a charity that Palm Beach County Mayor, Shelly Vana, feels extremely passionate about. During her welcome speech, Vana shared a heartfelt success story she witnessed first hand as as result of the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County, which encompassed what the entire night was really all about, giving back and ending homelessness. We had the honor of personally meeting Shelly Vana during cocktail hour, and were happy to experience her #SceneGirl sense of humor and warm heart. We were so glad to hear that early estimates expected the event to bring in over $248,000 for the cause.
Enchanted we were upon entering the reception room, which had been transformed into a new realm complete with magical backdrops, forest groves, and fairy light centerpieces. This captivating theme was further brought to life with interactive characters dressed as living flowers, dragonfly queens, and an array of ‘midsummer night’s dream’ personalities. Much to our surprise, we had a live ‘Circus du Soleil’ type of performance half way through the dinner reception, performed by this extremely talented group. It takes a lot to entertain and shock us, but we couldn’t keep our eyes off this engaging production.
Give us black tie fashion, and your #SceneGirls are there. We had a ball working the room to find out the latest and greatest gala looks of the Palm Beach social scene. While some some politician’s wives stopped the show in designer fashions by Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, and Givenchy, others rocked untraditional black tie styles in couture jumpsuits, pantsuits and short dresses. It’s clearly the year of fashion risks gone right: plunging necklines and high slits, and our Palm Beach women did not disappoint.
A HUGE LLScene thank you to Shelli Lockhart, the Homeless Coalition’s Media Specialist and, SO much more! In our opinion, Shelli was the face behind every flawless detail that went into this event. There wasn’t a moment we didn’t see her working her butt off, and it all paid off. She made sure every component was finished to a T before, during and after the event. Shelli even went out of her way to make sure we were introduced to Mayor, Shelly Vana. We know the blood, sweat, and tears behind event planning, coordination, and those inevitable hiccups that come up #OnTheScene, but Shelli handled everything with poise and class. She is the true definition of a hardworking #SceneGirl, and we are so honored to have worked with her.
It wouldnt be a #SceneGirl night out in Palm Beach without making a quick debut to The Breakers. Believe it or not, this was the first time we have been back there since Lindsey’s wedding! We sipped cocktails in the HMF Lounge, reminisced about the the wedding, acknowledged our post-wedding nostalgia, and strategized for the future. It was the quintessential way to end our first black tie gala affair.
